It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a man staffing a Regency LARP, must be in want of a good costume.
Since I was on staff and would be called upon to NPCs multiple characters, as well as attend the finale ball on Saturday, I was going to need to have multiple costumes. Purchasing historical costuming can be expensive, and was a concern for myself and many of the players.
So I'm interested in ways I can save some money by using modern thrifted garments that are close enough as-is, or using some sewing-know-how to modify them into something a bit more Regency appropriate.
I'm by no means an expert on Regency fashion, and not particularly interested in 100% historical accuracy. This is a LARP, not a reenactment or historical drama. We're only looking to pass the squint test here.
That being said, to explain my thought process I will be posting research and resources along the way to explain my thought process, and help folks who want to do the same thing understand what to look for.
