So, I'm going to be on staff at a Regency larp in a few days, and am probably going to be using my iPad during check-in and to reference game docs and such. But, the last thing I want is to have super modern tech visible and break the immersion...
Looking around my house, I noticed that my Apple pencil is roughly the
same diameter as a coax cable, and I had some adhesive extra coax cable
clips. One quick proof-of-concept later using a random feather from the craft box, and I had a viable plan! Huzzah!
I didn't love that feather though, or any of the others I had around the house, so I did a last minute run to a local craft-supply thrift store hoping they'd have something suitable, and as luck would have it, they did! It was literally the last feather they had too. How serendipitous!
Some liberal application of contact cement later, and voila, my Apple pencil has been disguised as a quill.
Please enjoy my cat, Toffee, photo-bombing in the background. 😂
After taking these photos, I decided to add a second coax cable clip for additional stability. I'm real pleased with how this turned out. I also treated myself to a leather iPad case from Etsy, and this faux quill is going to be the icing on the cake.
